Congratulations to Natalie & Naomi on being selected as our June Students of the Month!

This month, we celebrate and honor the incredible hard work, dedication, and growth of two sisters: Natalie and Naomi Bernstein. They have been members of the SoundLife family since before SoundLife even existed, beginning their lessons at the age of eight along with their older brother Isaac. Though Natalie and Naomi are twins, they couldn’t be more different. It has been a pleasure to see them develop as individuals and as sisters.
Natalie and Naomi started lessons in 2014 with Chris Vazquez, our co-founder and program director. At the time, SoundLife was a brand-new idea with Chris as the only teacher, traveling to every student's home across the entire city. The vision for SoundLife was still evolving, but Natalie and Naomi were along for the ride. They embraced adventure, tried new ideas, and faced challenges head-on.
These sisters hold a record that will likely never be broken: they have each performed in 22 showcases, participating in every single Showcase to date. They have continuously taken lessons for 10 years, from the age of eight to eighteen, developing as musicians and performers throughout this journey. Natalie has pursued songwriting, carving out a unique sound and falling in love with the expressive power and art of the song. Naomi has explored various styles, from punk rock to hip-hop and everything in between. With each performance, Naomi tried something completely different and outside of the box, which we have always respected and looked forward to.
When they first took the stage, our showcases were much different than they are now. The first showcase was just a collection of chairs in a backyard. But as the Showcases evolved, so did Natalie and Naomi. Today, both young women stand confidently on stage, fearlessly expressing themselves creatively and artistically in an environment where most people feel uncomfortable. This is our mission, and Natalie and Naomi embody it in a way that makes us incredibly proud.
In the fall, they will both go off to college and start the next chapter of their lives, but they will always be an integral part of the SoundLife family.
