SoundLife Music Academy is proud to introduce Jason Kanakis, a classically trained musician and composer with over 20 years of experience in music education and performance. Jason offers lessons on guitar, bass, piano, and drums, as well as Band Coaching. His extensive background includes teaching students of all ages and abilities in various styles, such as classical, folk, rock, and jazz. His well-rounded expertise makes him an exceptional instructor capable of guiding students through their musical journey, regardless of their starting point.

Jason’s teaching experience spans many prestigious programs, including his work at the Marlborough School Summer Program since 2016, where he created and implemented a curriculum designed to instill the lifelong skill of effective practice. By helping students break down challenging musical pieces and progressively overcome obstacles, Jason teaches a valuable method that extends beyond music and into everyday problem-solving.

In addition to his work as an educator, Jason has enjoyed a successful career as a session musician, recording and touring with a range of renowned artists, including Sara Bareilles, Imogen Heap, and Pete Yorn. His versatility extends to composing original music for film, TV, and commercials, showcasing his ability to thrive in different creative environments.
