Congratulations to Guy on being selected as our
Janaury 2025 Student of the Month!
SoundLife is proud to celebrate Guy Hillel as our Student of the Month! A longtime member of our program since 2015, Guy began his musical journey as a drum student and a member of the band Feedback, coached by SoundLife. Over the years, he has evolved into an exceptional multi-instrumentalist, mastering the drums, guitar, and bass. Currently, Guy showcases his talent with The Orpheus Project, another band coached by SoundLife, while also performing and writing with his own band. In addition, he is an active member of his high school’s marching band and jazz ensemble, as well as a competitive drumline ensemble.
Guy has earned a reputation for selecting challenging and technically complex songs to perform with the SoundLife House Band at our Showcases. This tradition began in 2021 when the house band concept was first introduced post-pandemic. At each Showcase, Guy consistently raises the bar, pushing the boundaries of creativity and skill. At Showcase XXIV, he took it to an entirely new level by performing "Take The Time" by Dream Theater. This iconic prog rock masterpiece spans over eight minutes and features intricate time signatures and rapid technical passages—a feat that demands extraordinary focus and preparation.
With his guitar instructor Eric Potapenko by his side, Justin Resnick on vocals and keys, and his father on bass, Guy delivered a performance that left the entire audience, instructors, staff, and even the venue team in awe. The standing ovation he received was a testament to his dedication and artistry. Seeing Guy perform this challenging piece alongside his father added a heartwarming touch to an already unforgettable moment. The pride and joy on both their faces encapsulated the spirit of music and family.
Congratulations to Guy on his outstanding achievements and for continually pushing the limits of what’s possible. He embodies the creativity, confidence, and passion that make SoundLife unique. We are honored to have him as a part of our community and look forward to seeing where his musical journey takes him next!
