Congratulations to Nate on being selected as our October 2025 Student of the Month!
We’re thrilled to celebrate Nate Dumont as our Student of the Month! Nate has been part of the SoundLife family since 2020, and in that time he has become one of the most prolific and passionate students we’ve ever had the privilege of working with.
Nate’s journey began during the pandemic, when he started virtual guitar lessons with our founder Chris through The Marlborough Summer School. Like many students, he faced challenges early on—but his perseverance quickly turned into dedication, and before long, a full-blown passion for music. Nate switched to electric guitar, and from there his obsession took off.
One of the things we admire most about Nate is his curiosity. Not only does he love playing, but he also experiments with his instruments—literally opening up his guitars and pedals to explore how they work. That curiosity extends beyond the guitar, as Nate now takes two weekly guitar lessons with Lorenzo Taddei and Eric Potapenko, piano lessons with Anna, and upright bass lessons with Blake. His diverse studies have opened the door to new genres, and he’s become an active member of his school’s jazz band and musicals.
Nate’s love for music also led him to start his own group, Sunday, The Band, which just released their first single, Rewind. You can listen here: Rewind on Spotify. With more new music on the way, this is only the beginning of Nate’s artistic journey.
Over the years, Nate has wowed audiences at our SoundLife Showcases with unforgettable performances alongside our house band. A true highlight was his rendition of “Cory Wong” by Vulfpeck—a performance that has become a classic in our archives.
From his early Zoom lessons to becoming a multi-instrumentalist, bandleader, and budding jazz musician, Nate’s story is a powerful reminder of what passion, perseverance, and curiosity can create. It’s clear music will always be a part of his life, and we couldn’t be prouder to support him on this journey.
